FURNITURE

Ilana Goor's creations are known as unique and powerful. She designs furniture, sculpures, jewelry, and fashion items which are broght together by one special motif: a strong presence which leads the viewer to experience an emotional reaction.
Goor's new and limited line of furniture, produced recently, has an extraordinary presence. The artist's new collection consists of 15 pieces of furniture: tables, chairs, standing lamps and a tea cart. Goor dominates the iron, and designs an industrial product that is crude yet impressive. In some items, Goor uses a combination of iron and wood, in others a combination of iron with leather, fabric, glass and perspex – a fascinating combination of powerful and soft materials.
Goor started designing furniture in 1986, when she was awarded the prestigious Roscoe prize for the best design of a seating set made from Rebar (Reinforcing bar), a processed iron made for construction.
Goor's contemporary collection of furniture and lighting figures, presents items that are both artistic and functional. Items that clearly bear the artist's signifying marks, as she best describes them as: "Furniture that look like motorless machines".
